Right now, there is an archaeological dig happening right across the street from us in Little La Trobe Street. This site, which has been a carpark since the 1940s, is about to become home to an apartment block.
Before that happens, archaeologists are excavating the foundations of a row of 1860s cottages, which have been hidden under the bitumen for 70-odd years.
It’s well worth coming to have a look for yourself before it disappears!
